Georgia Department of Transportation is committed to safe travel conditions on the nearly 20,000 miles of highways that make up the state system.  Georgia DOT crews have  worked with the Forestry Commission, Georgia State Patrol, GEMA and many other agencies to both fight fires and keep the public notified of road closures and detours.  Georgia DOT can assemble a “Strike Team” to work as operators that plow fire breaks.  These firebreaks provide access for firefighting equipment into inaccessible areas.
