Background

In November of 2008, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) awarded a $110 million Congestion Reduction Demonstration (CRD) Program grant to the Atlanta region. The CRD grant enabled the HOV to HOT conversion project.  Under this project,  express lanes were converted from the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes along the I-85 corridor.
