Safe Routes to School (SRTS)
The Safe Routes To School (SRTS) program is part of a national (and international) movement to improve the health and well-being of children in grades K-8—including those with disabilities—by making it safe, convenient and fun to walk or bike to school every day.

Georgia DOT Safe Routes to School Center Celebrates International Walk to School Day
More than 100 Georgia elementary and middle schools participated in the International Walk to School Day on October 5, 2011 to help promote congestion reduction and health and safety messages of walking to school. Sponsored by the Georgia DOT's Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Resource Center, International Walk to School Day is held every October -- Walk to School month. Young students walked to school along with parents, teachers and community leaders.
