Alternative Fuels Programs

CMAQ funds can be used to support alternative fuel projects through bus or truck retro-fitting programs, alternative fuel stations and infrastructure, truck stop electrification units, or alternatively fueled vehicle purchases for public fleets.  For the purpose of CMAQ, these projects can only be classified as promoting "alternative" fuel if the fuel being used in the project is natural gas, ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, electricity, or liquefied propane gas.
