US 78 at SR 124
Description
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), in cooperation with Gwinnett County and the City of Snellville, has initiated a concept and environmental study for the US 78 and SR 124 intersection and immediate surrounding area. The intersection is located in the “Downtown” commercial and residential area of Snellville, Georgia. The US 78 at SR 124 intersection provides direct access to/from I-20 to the south and connects Lawrenceville, Georgia to the north, Atlanta, Georgia to the west, and Athens, Georgia to the east. Based on the expected interest and range of local and regional issues, GDOT is coordinating with the community via a Citizen's Advisory Committee, where numerous stakeholders and interested parties will partner with GDOT, the County and the City throughout the planning process. The general public will be engaged via Public Information Open Houses (PIOH) at key decision points in an effort to gain public input for roadway enhancements.
Mission
To identify and recommend transportation improvements for the US 78 at SR 124 intersection and immediate intersections to enhance the safety and flow of all modes of travel, while being responsible to the residential and business communities and preserving the key historic, social and natural environments.
