New PC-Based Bridge Design Software
New Software Links
Overview
Previously, Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Consultant Bridge Engineers accessed the Alpha Server to run the Office of Bridge and Structural Design Programs. The Alpha Server has become obsolete and is no longer supported. Therefore, GDOT Division Information Technology (IT) has converted these programs for use on a PC with Windows Operating System.
Some of the key issues considered were:
- Recompiling the FORTRAN code for the PC while maintain compatibility with all previous input files.
- Create a simplified method to:
- Create, edit and save input files
- View and print output files
- Create a web site for providing:
- Easy access to the programs and all associated files to all users
- Easy distribution of updates to the programs.
