Georgia's transportation needs are evolving along with the state's economic expansion and population growth. Georgia DOT has programs in place to aid Georgia's transportation system in meeting future demands.

Design & Engineering 

Design-Build
Design Build allow contractors to participate in the project’s design in an effort to reduce costs, improve communication and expedite project delivery.

 

Value Engineering
Georgia DOT performs Value Engineering studies on all construction projects with a total combined costs of $10 million or more.

Federal & State

Express Lanes
This system uses restricted access points, toll pricing, and exempt vehicles to provide more reliable travel options for motorists on Georgia DOT's state highway system.

Georgia's Federal Stimulus Package for Transportation
Georgia DOT is implementing funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) in three transportation program areas, highway Investment, public transit investment and grants for airport improvement.

Public Private Partnerships P3
The P3 program is designed to bring much needed transportation projects to Georgia, which would not be possible under the traditional processes and existing funding.

State Transportation Improvement Program STIP
The STIP list federally funded transportation projects that are located outside Metropolitan Planning Organzation (MPO) boundaries.

Statewide Transportation Plan SWTP
The SWTP accesses the current and future performance of all major transportation modes in the state.

Transportation Referendum
The 2012 Transportation Referendum offers Georgians an opportunity to vote for a one percent regional sales tax to fund transportation improvements.
