Wildflowers

Georgia DOT manages several programs that improve our environment and beautify our highways.

Roadside Beautification

Adopt-A-Highway
The Adopt-A-Highway Program enlists citizen volunteers to help remove litter from state roadsides.

Landscaping
Georgia DOT's Landscape Guide coordinates established safety standards with aesthetic and environmental considerations on the State rights of way.

Litter Prevention
Georgia DOT is in a partnership with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and Keep Georgia Beautiful to research all issues relating to littering behavior and litter prevention.

Sponsor-A-Highway
This program allows local businesses to financially sponsor the maintenance of small segments of roadway through the use of private crews funded by sponsorship dollars. 

Wildflower
This program creates a colorful roadside experience for travelers and allows Georgia residents to purchase a Wildflower Auto Tag 

Regulations and Preservation

Air Quality
Georgia DOT works with other state and local agencies to improve air quality in the state.

Cultural Resources
This program ensures all projects comply with applicable federal and state historic preservation laws and regulations.

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
This section prepares legally sufficient NEPA/Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA) documentation, coordinating public involvement activities, and managing the overall environmental process for the Department.
